Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Madison County Criminal History. Using the site indicates acceptance. Anyone who does not agree with these terms should stop using it.

NO FCRA USE. Madison County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. The site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is a reference for locating Madison County and North Carolina criminal-record resources, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no tie to a government office. It neither stores official criminal files nor orders records, performs official checks, or files documents for a visitor.

The content identifies custodians such as the Madison County Sheriff, District 35 courts, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect readers with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Violate a local, state, or federal law through the site
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use the content for housing, hiring, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Operate bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Disrupt access, overload the service, or interfere with another visitor

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information reached here may be used to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or discriminate against a person. Such conduct is prohibited and may be criminal. North Carolina's Article 27A governs the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry and its public-safety use. Registry data is not permission for confrontation, vigilante acts, blacklisting, or discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Madison County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and creates no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as providers for FCRA-regulated screening. Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

Any check required for a regulated purpose must come from an authorized official process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Madison County charge, conviction, warrant, or North Carolina expunction law applies to one person. A licensed North Carolina lawyer should address that question.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are offered "as is." There is no guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Records change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, restricted, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. No content here is an official statement by a sheriff, court, SBI, or other government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-service, and outside search websites. Those destinations are independently controlled. We are not responsible for their availability, charges, privacy practices, terms, or content. Review the destination's conditions before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise identified, site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Madison County Criminal History or its content partners. Written permission is required to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from site use, linked services, or reliance on information reached through either.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or actions caused by your site use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in North Carolina. Official agency records remain subject to applicable laws, including the North Carolina Public Records Law and its exceptions.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version becomes effective when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions
