About Madison County Criminal History

Madison County criminal records are divided among the sheriff, District 35 courts, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the state corrections system, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Finding the right custodian is often the hardest part. We built this site to place the official portals, current office details, and request paths in one clear reference, especially while the Marshall courthouse and several local offices operate from temporary locations.

Why We Built This Site

North Carolina provides several public access routes, yet each answers a different question. The Madison County Sheriff keeps its own arrest, incident, detention, and booking material. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains District and Superior Court case files at the temporary courthouse in Marshall. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation holds the fingerprint-based state repository, while the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction publishes correctional and supervision information. The North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry is a separate public-safety system. We organize those official contacts, portals, costs, and request methods so readers can start with the office that actually holds the record.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We are not connected with Madison County, a North Carolina court, any sheriff or police department, the SBI, or NCDAC. Those limits matter:

  • We do not retrieve criminal files or perform official checks
  • We cannot submit an expunction petition, public-record request, or other filing for a visitor
  • We cannot certify or issue court papers, rap sheets, or other official records
  • We do not offer legal advice about an individual charge or case
  • We cannot promise that an address, fee, office hour, or telephone number has not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as the sheriff, clerk, or North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, can issue its official copy.

Search Partners

Search boxes on some pages are supplied by outside providers. Each provider controls its service, results, and price. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports this free reference. We do not set the provider's charges or control its results. The search tools are not official Madison County, North Carolina court, SBI, or law-enforcement systems.
