Questions about official Madison County criminal records belong with the government office that created or maintains the file. The contacts below distinguish the sheriff's written records route, the temporary Clerk of Superior Court counter, the SBI fingerprint repository, and town police custodians. This privately operated site cannot accept a public-record request or issue an official document.

This Is Not a Government Office. Madison County Criminal History is privately operated. It cannot retrieve or correct a record, conduct an official check, or receive an expunction petition. Those services belong to the responsible public office.

Need an Official Record?

Madison County records are split among these official custodians:

  • Court case files: use the temporary Clerk of Superior Court office at 258 Carolina Lane, Marshall, North Carolina 28753, or call (828) 649-2200; current posted hours differ, so confirm before visiting
  • Personal fingerprint record: use the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Right to Review process
  • Arrest, booking, and jail records: write to the Madison County Sheriff at 348 Medical Park Drive, Marshall, North Carolina 28753, email mcsopublicrecordsrequest@madisoncountync.gov, or call (828) 649-2721 for nonconfidential custody information
  • Certified county court search: file AOC-CR-314 with the clerk and the required $25 payment
  • Police reports and incident records: contact the agency that wrote the report
  • Expunction: use the current form for the applicable statute and file in the county of conviction

Formal sheriff requests must be written; telephone requests are not accepted under the posted policy. Mars Hill, Marshall, and Hot Springs police records must be requested from the town department that created them. The temporary clerk site handles both District and Superior Court files Monday through Friday, but the official advisory and location panel show different opening times. Call before travel.
